Andrew Whitley is currently an assistant coach at Fairfield University where he coaches face-offs and assists with the offense. He has been coaching at Fairfield since September, 2009.
Previously, Whitley spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Yale University (2007-9). While at Yale, he worked with the goalies and defense. During his time at Yale, he helped George Carafides finish 4th in school history in career saves with 535.
Whitley, who served as Wesleyan University's defensive coordinator from 1997-2000, moved to Yale after four seasons (2003-06) as an assistant at the Hopkins School in New Haven, CT, where he helped the Hilltoppers win their first ever conference title in 2006. He was named Fairchester Athletic Association Assistant Coach of the Year in 2005.
At Wesleyan, Whitley helped his team qualify for two ECAC tournaments while working with the defense and goaltenders. Whitley also coordinated the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association weekly polls and post-season all-star teams from 1999-2004.He attended both Alfred University and Franklin & Marshall College, earning the Diplomat Award for character and leadership in 1996 from the latter. Whitley, who earned his degree in sociology from F&M in 1996, was a two-time all-Centennial Conference Goaltender and played in the 1993, 1994 and 1995 NCAA Tournaments. He currently ranks 18th in Centennial Conference history with a .574 save percentage and 25th with 346 career saves.
Whitley, who lives in Norwalk, CT, also acted as Managing Partner of the private equity firm Ankeny Homes, LLC from 2000-7.
